Video: How often, if ever, will I have to go to court during bankruptcy proceedings?

Generally, in consumer cases, you will never need to go to court or appear before the bankruptcy judge. However, you are required to appear before the bankruptcy trustee at a meeting of creditors. At this meeting of creditors, you and your attorney will appear before the bankruptcy trustee, who has a right to ask you questions about your petition, assets, and financial affairs. Creditors also have a right to appear, but in most cases, no creditors appear. The meeting generally takes less than 10 minutes in most cases.
