Video: How long will my commercial litigation lawsuit take?

There are really no rules as to how long or short a period of time it's going to take to litigate your case. All cases are based on the facts and circumstances particular to that case. You can expect that a commercial litigation is not going to take less than a year. Some cases take two, three, four years. A lot of factors are number of parties, number of causes of action. Is there a counter-claim, a counter-lawsuit being filed? Is there a third party lawsuit being filed? How aggressively are parties litigating the case? How many witnesses are going to be deposed to gather testimony for the trial? Even though there's not rule, you can expect it's going to be a lengthy and expensive process.
