Generally speaking, IRAs, 401ks, and other retirement-type plans like pensions are protected under a bankruptcy filing. There is, however, an exception for things called fraudulent transfers, where you try to hide cash by putting it into a pension or an IRA right before you file bankruptcy. That, you can not do.
